A specialist in ground penetrating radar applications will be the speaker at next month’s AusIMM Christchurch Discussion Group meeting.
Harry Jol will cover case studies in geologic, geomorphic and geo-archaeological environments.
The AusIMM said this talk will help members to better understand the subsurface in using ground penetrating radar (GPR) for mineral, archaeological and aggregate exploration.
Jol will provide a series of case studies to illustrate the capability of GPR.
The speaker gained his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from Simon Fraser University in Canada and Ph.D. from the University of Calgary. He is presently a professor and during his Master's degree he worked on the Fraser River Delta conducting a high resolution shallow seismic programme in collaboration with the Geological Survey of Canada.
The talk will be given on the evening of May 10 in the Regent meeting room on Level 1, 214 Durham Street in Christchurch central.
