Genesis Energy Ltd (NZX & ASX: GNE) has appointed Barbara Chapman as a non-executive to replace John Leuchars who is retiring after completing six years on the board.
Genesis chairwoman Dame Jenny Shipley said Barbara Chapman was well known for her leadership roles in Australia and New Zealand, most recently as chief executive of ASB for almost seven years.
“She brings valuable skills to the Genesis board around disruptive innovation, marketing, digital transformation, consumer technologies and driving leading brands.
Her appointment will be effective from May 1. In line with the company constitution, Chapman will seek her full mandate from all shareholders by standing for election at the next annual shareholding meeting in October.
Dame Jenny paid tribute to Leuchars, saying his extensive international engineering experience was invaluable when Genesis completely reviewed its asset management approach. He was of significant value across many large-scale engineering projects, in particular the $125 million relining of the Tekapo canal in 2014.
