A well-known New Zealand geologist who now operates a tourist gold mine on the North Island will be speaker at the AusIMM’s Auckland Group meeting.
Stuart Rabone who operates the Broken Hill historic mine will present at the meeting next Wednesday evening at the Anderson Lloyd boardroom in the Australis Nathan Building in Galway Street, Britomart, Auckland.
The AusIMM said Rabone will speak on the philosophy, negotiating, work and waiting involved in obtaining a right to mine for gold in a conservation-ethic country.
He has had a 50 year career in exploration and mining mostly in NZ and mostly in the Coromandels. He played a role in discovery of Golden Cross and was instrumental in discovery of Correnso and Moonlight-Favona, now being mined by OceanaGold Corporation.
